Alila Villas Uluwatu: The Beautiful Paradise Within

From the moment that I arrived to the wide, open-air lobby of Alila Villas Uluwatu, I knew that I was going to be in for a very memorable stay. This property is part of Hyatt hotels and represents the pinnacle of innovation and luxury as part of the Alila collection.

I was seated at a spacious couch area looking out to the infinity pools and ocean while waiting for the receptionist to complete my check-in procedure. While waiting, the staff offered some refreshments and a complimentary 10-minute shoulder massage to recharge my energy after the hour long commute from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

The walkways and decor of the property are designed with a beautiful color combination of beige white and brown that compliments the refreshing green of the plants and serene blue of the water. All together it provides a sense of peace that is unrivaled by any other property that I have visited before.

Traveling around the property can be done by calling a buggy. The hotel will then send a buggy to your location for fast and easy transport to any location, including the gym, pool, restaurants, and of course your own room.

The Villa

I had reserved the most basic room type at Alila Villas Uluwatu, which is an upscale villa as you could have guessed from the name. Each villa of this type can be divided into three areas.

The main living space contained the ultra-comfortable king-sized bed, the central dining table, television, and the lounge bed sitting right beside the large glass wall looking out to the villa’s private pool. The fridge and coffee machine can be found inside the cabinets of the TV console, blending in to the design. An assortment of chocolate and dried fruit will be waiting on the table to welcome guests entering for the first time.

The pool area included a pair of lounge chairs and a canopy for relaxing in the open, which are excellent for taking in the warm sunny rays of Bali. While this area can be accessed on either side of the villa, the pool can be directly entered through a door in the glass wall by the indoor lounge bed, which adds to the seamless flow of the architectural design.

Last but certainly not least, the bathing area spans one entire side of the villa. I was already excited with the pair of his-her sinks, but the beautiful window-lit bathtub and body jet-enhanced shower made it even better. Not to mention the outdoor showering area equipped with a rain shower head that really brings you closer to the zen vibes of Bali.

These rooms can run close to $700 USD on average, and higher end options such as suites will be even costlier.

And although I did not have the breakfast provided by the hotel, I ended up making my own and enjoying the precious morning hours in the comfort of my own space.

Amenities

The gym is located in its own building by the large staircase leading up to the first row of villas. It comes equipped with the standard cardio equipment, a multi-functional cable machine, dumbbells, and several exercise balls for a wide assortment of exercise.

The central infinity pool overlooks the south ocean of Bali and provides one of the most breathtaking swim experiences on the island. Towels are provided by the pool, and there are several cabanas and lounge chairs to relax in while out of the water as well.

A stay at Alila Villas Uluwatu provides you with a free 1-hour photoshoot around the property and 2 edited prints to serve as a reminder of your luxurious stay.

Additionally, there are several activities provided onsite such as yoga, spa, archery, surf lessons, and even gastronomic cooking. Although my short stay did not allow for enough time, it is certainly something I would consider doing if I plan on staying at the resort for most of the trip.

If you are planning to stay in the Uluwatu area on your next outing to Bali, look no further than this exquisite resort. Especially if you are seeking the Bali-esque vibes of spirituality, serenity, and eternal relaxation.
